Vehicle with automatic transmissions are equipped with this system, Figs. 20 and 21 to reduce CO emissions due to rapid warm-up. If engine is started while coolant temperature is in specified range, transmission is held in kickdown range for a pre-set time interval after ignition switch is turned on.
