Fig. 1 Exploded view of Nippondenso breakerless type distributor.:

1. Release cap spring, then remove cap and rotor, Fig. 1.
2. Remove snap ring and screw, then draw out vacuum controller.
3. Remove screw and take off screw plate securing breaker plate in position.
4. Remove igniter attaching screws and the igniter.
5. Remove breaker plate from distributor housing.
6. Remove dust proof cover being careful not to break torque.
7. Detach governor spring by pulling spring hook with long nose pliers, then remove snap ring and take out flyweight. Be careful not to deform governor spring and its hooked end.
8. Detach cap from top of governor shaft and remove screw, then pull out governor shaft and signal rotor.
9. Using drill, cut off staked portion of pin, then pull out pin and remove spiral gear.
10. Pull governor shaft from housing.
11. Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following:
a. Assemble signal rotor by aligning match mark scribed on notch with that on gear.
b. When assembling signal rotor, apply grease to shaft.
c. Install governor to housing after applying engine oil to shaft and housing bushing.
d. After installing spiral gear, stake pin securely.
e. Use selective washer to adjust housing to gear clearance to .0059-.0197 inch.
f. When assembling breaker to housing, evenly fit breaker plate set spring into housing groove.
g. Adjust air gap to .008-.016 inch.
h. When installing rotor, rotate roller to ensure smooth rotation, then fix gear and turn rotor by hand to ensure it moves smoothly.
