SUBJECT: ACCESSORY A/C INSTALLATION - KNEE PANEL REMOVAL

A knee panel is installed in the evaporator mounting brackets on 1988 MY L-Series, GL 4DR Sedan, and GL Station Wagon with passive restraints beginning with February, 1988, production. When an accessory air conditioning system is installed, the knee panel, part number 72005GA160, must be removed and replaced with the A/C evaporator assembly. See figure 1.
NOTE: The knee panel securing bolts can be reused to secure the evaporator assembly.
