Evaporative Emissions System: Description and Operation

Evaporative Emission Control System:

PURPOSE
The evaporative emission control system (EVAP) prevents evaporative fuel from being released into the atmosphere.

OPERATION
Fuel vapors from the tank are routed to the canister through the evaporation line and are absorbed in activated carbon. The two-way valve, fuel separator and rollover valve are incorporated in the vapor line between tank and engine compartment. The purge control valve is controlled by the EFC System through a purge control solenoid. Vapor flow from the float chamber to the canister is regulated by the EFC System and a float chamber ventilation solenoid valve.

CONSTRUCTION
The system includes a canister, two-way valve, fuel separator, rollover valve and various connecting lines. There is an additional vapor line between canister and carburetor float chamber.
