Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

Air Temperature Sensor:

PURPOSE
The air temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature of intake air.

LOCATION
The air temperature sensor is mounted on the air cleaner assembly.

OPERATION
The ECU sends a reference voltage to the sensor thermistor and measures the voltage variation due to temperature induced resistance changes in the sensor. The ECU enters this information into its calculations determining injection quantity.
