Inner Door Weatherstrip Metal Edge Warping

SUBJECT: INNER DOOR WEATHERSTRIP METAL EDGE WARPING


If you receive a complaint regarding the metal edge trim of the inner door glass weatherstrip "warping", replace the weatherstrip using the following part number and installation information.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

A) Remove the door inner trim panel
1) Remove the three screws securing the speaker grille
2) Remove the two screws securing the armrest
3) Remove the door handle inner cover by inserting a flat blade screwdriver between the top of the handle cover and the door trim, pry outward 1/4" and perform the same procedure directly below at the bottom of the trim panel. Then, pull the door handle outward and the cover outward to remove it. See Figure 1.
4) Remove the door trim panel by carefully releasing the plastic retaining clips.
5) Disconnect the electrical connector for the power windows (if equipped).
B) Remove the weatherstrip by straightening the bent retaining tabs, and pulling the weatherstrip outward.
C) Install the modified weatherstrip by bending the retaining tabs flat, using a pair of pliers with jaws taped to prevent damage to the rubber seal.
D) Reinstall the door trim panel in the reverse order of removal.
