Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

Fuel Injector Schematic:

Faulty fuel injectors can set up to four different trouble codes in the on-board diagnostic system. The codes correspond to each injector. Refer to the schematic diagram and test the sensor with the diagnostic chart.

Trouble Code: Injector:
14 #1
15 #2
16 #3
17 #4

Wire color code identification:

L: Blue
B: Black
Y: Yellow
G: Green
R: Red
W: White
Br: Brown
Lg: Light green
Gr: Gray

Fuel Injector Testing:

CHECK FUEL INJECTORS

1. While cranking engine, check that each injector emits a "clicking" sound. Use a stethoscope or long screwdriver for this test.
2. With injectors disconnected, measure resistance between injector terminals. It should read 11-12 Ohms.

CHECK FUEL INJECTOR POWER TERMINALS

Disconnect injector connectors and measure voltage between connector power terminals and ground as follows:

Connector & terminal: Voltage:
(E12)1-Ground 10V min.
(E4)1-Ground 10V min.
(E13)1-Ground 10V min.
(E5)1-Ground 10V min.

CHECK ECU VOLTAGE AND GROUND

1. With injectors connected, measure voltage at each injector terminal of ECU as follows:

Connector & terminal: Voltage:
(F47)11-Ground 10V min.
(F47)12-Ground 10V min.
(F47)13-Ground 10V min.
(F47)26-Ground 10V min.

2. Disconnect ECU connector and measure resistance between connector terminals and ground as follows:

Connector & terminal: Resistance:
(F47)24-Ground 0 Ohms
(F47)25-Ground 0 Ohms
