Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Information

^ The V5 system's vent temperatures do not drop much below 41F (5C) when evaporator intake air is below 68F (20C) and the engine speed is less than 1,500 rpm.

^ When the temperature of the air entering the evaporator is low, the discharge pressure could seen excessively low and some bubbles can be observed in the sight glass - THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION.

^ The system is sensitive to refrigerant volume. Always charge the system using a charging cylinder or an accurate weight scale - DO NOT USE THE

SIGHT GLASS FOR CHARGING THE SYSTEM.

^ A "clunking" sound may be heard when charging the system - THIS IS A

NORMAL CONDITION.

^ When ambient temperatures are extremely low, or the system charge is low, the compressor clutch is disengaged to protect the compressor.

^ Use only DSBPX refrigerant oil recommended by the manufacturer for V5 system lubrication.

^ Always use OEM replacement parts.

^ This system uses a special expansion value (which may resemble current non-variable displacement systems). There are no substitutes, OEM must be used.
