SUBJECT: FACTORY RADIO REMOVAL AND REINSTALLATION

When removing the ETR radio during accessory cassette deck or graphic equalizer installation, do not pull the radio directly from the dashboard opening. To prevent damage to the radio wiring harness and the antenna lead, perform the following:

^ Unplug the antenna lead from the 12" radio antenna extension lead located under the carpet edge on the driver's side of the transmission tunnel next to the console and push the female end of the 12" extension into the dashboard area.

^ After the trim panel and radio securing screws are removed (refer to the Subaru Legacy Service Manual, SECTION 6-27 PAGE 71), carefully pull the radio out of the dashboard opening, disconnect the antenna lead and the 7 and 9 pin connectors from the back of the radio.

^ Cut the tywrap on the passenger side metal support which holds the harness to the rear of the opening. This will allow the wiring to extend approximately 1.5 inches.

^ Reinstall the radio in the reverse order of removal.
