Door Glass - Squeaking Noise

SUBJECT: SQUEAKING NOISE FROM DOOR GLASS DURING OPERATION



If you encounter customer complaints concerning a squeaking noise while the door windows are operated up and down, replace the outer stabilizers with modified ones listed below.
* Hardness of cushion has been increased.

Replacement

1. Remove armrest.

2. Remove remote handle cover. Be careful not to damage remote handle cover by referring to SOA Service Bulletin 12-47-89.

3. Remove trim panel clips (8 pieces) and gusset cover using CLIP PULLER (925580000). Remove trim panel. Be careful not to break trim panel clips by applying undue force, refer to the 1990 Legacy Service Manual Section 5-2 Page 17 [W3A0].

4. Remove door rearview mirror.

5. Remove inner and outer weatherstrips.

6. Loosen the inner door glass stabilizer bolt.
7. Remove the outer door glass stabilizer bolt and stabilizer and lower the door glass.

8. Install the modified door glass stabilizer.

9. Tighten the inner stabilizer bolt while pressing the inner door glass stabilizer toward the door glass with your thumb using approximately 28.8 ft.lbs. of force.

10. Raise the door glass.

11. Make sure that minimal play exists in the door glass by gently shaking the top of the glass.

12. Reinstall removed parts in reverse order of disassembly.
