SUBJECT: PAINT PEELING FROM THE LOWER RADIATOR SUPPORT PANEL


If you encounter a Legacy model which has the black paint peeling off of the lower radiator support panel (See Figure 1 for location), the problem may be caused by poor adhesion between the black enamel painted on top of the body colored baked resin enamel.
Solution:

Step 1: Remove the black enamel and scuff the underlying body color using 320-380 grit sandpaper.
Step 2: Refinish the panel using an adhesion promoter, i.e., DuPont
222S or equivalent. Paint using a low gloss black acrylic enamel, i.e.,
