APPLICABILITY 1990 LEGACY SEDANS AND STATION WAGONS
(NON-AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLES ONLY)

SUBJECT: MODIFIED REAR STRUT MOUNTS

If you encounter a customer complaint of a knocking noise from the rear of the vehicle, it will be necessary to install a set of modified strut mounts, after eliminating other possibilities.

Modified parts are available through normal Subaru parts supply channels.

Modified parts are marked RH and LH for ease of identification.




NOTE: When installing, ensure that the locating arrow on the strut mount points towards the outer edge of the vehicle. See Fig. 1.

It is necessary to transfer the rear struts in accordance with the procedures outlined in Section 4 of the 1990 Legacy Service Manual.

Please be advised that the modified strut mounts have been incorporated in production as follows:
