SUBJECT: CAM BELT TIMING TIPS
This service bulletin is for information only.
When removing and/or replacing the cam belt always refer to the 1990 Service Manual Section 2-3 for detailed procedures.
If the alignment marks and/or arrow mark which indicates rotation direction on the timing belt fade away, put new marks on before removing the timing belt. When marking the belt make sure that all timing marks are aligned correctly. See Figure 1.

NOTE: Do not use arrows on pulleys as alignment marks. Only the alignment notches should be used. See Figure 1.

After installing the cam belt, insure the proper belt installation by counting the teeth on the left and right side of the crankshaft timing mark as shown in Figure 2.
The left side (driver's side) should have 40.5 teeth from the crankshaft timing mark to the left side cam shaft timing mark. (See Figure 2)
The right side (passenger side) should have 44 teeth from the crankshaft timing mark to the right side cam shaft timing mark. (See Figure 2)
