Wiper Switch: Testing and Inspection

Refer to Fig. 8, for connector pin identification and Fig. 9, for continuity test.
Windshield Wiper Motor
1. Inspect wiper motor low speed operation by connecting battery positive lead to terminal 2 of wiper motor connector and negative lead to terminal 4, Fig. 10.
2. Inspect wiper motor high speed operation by connecting battery positive lead to terminal 3 of wiper motor connector and negative lead to terminal 4, Fig. 10.
3. Inspect wiper motor for proper stoppage as follows:
a. Connect battery positive lead to terminal 2 of wiper motor connector and negative lead to terminal 4, Fig. 10.
b. After operating motor at low speed, disconnect positive lead from terminal 2.
c. Reconnect battery positive lead to terminal 5 of wiper motor connector. Ensure wiper motor stops at auto stop after operating at low speed.

Rear Wiper Motor

1. Inspect wiper motor operation by connecting battery positive lead to terminal 2 of wiper motor connector and negative lead to terminal 3 Fig. 12.
2. Inspect wiper motor for proper stoppage as follows:
a. After operating motor as outlined in step 1, disconnect positive lead from terminal 2.
c. Reconnect battery positive lead to terminal 1 of wiper motor connector, then install a jumper wire between terminals 2 and 4. Ensure wiper motor stops at auto stop after it has been operated.
