Airbag Warning Light Remains On
1. Inspect harness, connector and airbag warning light as follows:a. Turn ignition switch Off, then connect connector AB1 to connector 2A of test connector A.
b. Turn ignition switch On (engine Off), then connect connectors 3A and 4A.
c. If warning light goes out, proceed to step d or e. If warning light remains On, inspect and repair body harness. If body harness is satisfactory, replace warning light. After problem has been corrected, disconnect connector 3A and 4A.
d. On SVX models, turn ignition switch Off, then connector connectors AB1 and B58.
e. On Legacy and Impreza models, turn ignition switch Off, then connector connectors AB1 and B140.
f. On all models, remove instrument panel lower cover, then disconnect connectors AB3 and AB8.
g. Disconnect connector AB6 from airbag control unit, then connect AB6 to connector 8B of test connector B.
h. Turn ignition switch On (engine Off) and connect connectors 6B and 7B.
i. If warning light goes out, proceed to step 2. If warning light remains On, replace airbag main harness. After problem has been corrected, disconnect connector 6B and 7B.
2. Inspect grounding circuit as follows:
a. On SVX models, turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect connector AB1 from bulk harness connector B58.
b. On Legacy and Impreza models, turn ignition switch Off, then disconnect connector AB1 from bulk harness connector B140.
c. On all models, connect AB1 to connector 2A of test harness A.
d. Measure resistance between connector 5A terminal 17 and ground, then terminal 18 and ground. Resistance should be 10 ohms maximum.
e. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, body grounding circuit is faulty and should be repaired. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, proceed to step f or g.
f. On SVX models, connect connectors AB1 and B58, then disconnect connector AB6 from airbag control unit.
g. On Legacy and Impreza models, connect connectors AB1 and B140, then disconnect connector AB6 from airbag control unit.
h. On all models, connect AB6 to connector 8B of test harness B.
i. Measure resistance between connector 5B terminal 11 and ground, then terminal 18 and ground. Resistance should be 10 ohms maximum.
j. If resistance is greater than 10 ohms, replace airbag main harness. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace airbag control unit.
