Refer to Fig. 15 during removal and installation of the instrument panel.
1. On models w/airbags, disarm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove center console box.
3. Using a screwdriver, remove instrument panel retaining bolt covers as shown in Fig. 16.
4. Remove lower ``A'' pillar trim panel from body.
5. Disconnect and remove engine hood release cable from vehicle.
6. Disconnect instrument panel electrical connectors, then speedometer cable.
7. Disconnect ventilation cable from heater unit, then antenna cable from radio.
8. Disconnect temperature control cable from heater unit.
9. Disconnect fuse panel from electrical connector, then remove lower lefthand trim panel.
10. Remove steering column to instrument panel retaining bolts, then instrument panel retaining bolts.
11. Disconnect blower motor vacuum hose , then remove instrument panel from vehicle.
12. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. To set instrument panel into position, attach forward lower center section of instrument panel on cowl bracket flange as shown in Fig. 13.
b. Ensure placement of instrument panel is above windshield cowl weatherstrip as shown in Fig. 14.
