SUBJECT:
WIND NOISE FROM FRONT DOOR GLASS/
MIRROR GUSSET AREA
If you encounter a customer complaint of wind noise at speeds above 35 mph, which sounds like it is coming from the area surrounding the driver's side mirror gusset, use the following glass adjustment information to correct the noise. While driving, place your fingers near the mirror gusset inside the vehicle and carefully push outward. If the noise diminishes, the installation of a mirror gusset spacer may correct the noise.
STEP 1:
Verify the door glass adjustment by examining the glass as follows. The top edge of the window should be parallel with the roof drip moulding. The rear edge of the window should be parallel with the "B" pillar edge. The rear upper corner of the glass should fit the 90~ edges of the weather strip moulding. To adjust, remove the inner door trim panel and adjust according to the applicable Legacy Service Manual. If the adjustment appears to be okay and your road test confirms the noise is coming from the mirror area, proceed to Step 2.
STEP 2:
Install a spacer, P/N 62175AA000. It fits between the mirror gusset and the door inner structure, using one of the gusset mounting bolts to retain the spacer. See illustration.
Road test the vehicle. If the wind noise is still present, further window adjustments may be necessary. Verify the window adjustment procedure outlined in Step 1 and Section 5-2 of the Legacy Service Manual.
