Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

CARBURETED ENGINE

1. Disconnect fuel pump electrical connectors.
2. Remove fuel pump bracket with fuel pump from suspension bracket reinforcement.
3. Remove pump from bracket, then disconnect fuel delivery hoses from fuel pump.

FUEL INJECTED ENGINE

1. Relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
b. Crank engine for approximately 5 seconds. If engine starts, let engine run until it stops.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Clamp portion of hose connecting pipe and pump, to prevent fuel from flowing out.
4. Loosen hose clamp, then disconnect hose.
5. Remove pump bracket attaching bolts, then remove pump together with pump damper.
