SUBJECT: KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE EXHAUST FLEX JOINT


If you encounter a customer complaint of a knocking noise under the vehicle during gear change or acceleration, the cause may be the exhaust flange gasket located between the Y pipe and center pipe.

To correct this situation, replace the gasket with P/N 44022GA191. Be sure to install two new self-locking nuts when changing the gasket.

This countermeasure was included in production starting 7/21/91 with 92MY VINs N*203819 and N*408864.
