TROUBLE CODE 2

FLOWCHART

Possible Diagnosis:
- Front sensor harness is shorted.
- Airbag main harness is shorted.
- Roll connector is shorted.
- Airbag module harness is shorted.
- Airbag control unit is faulty.

CAUTION: Before troubleshooting airbag system, disconnect battery ground terminal, turn ignition switch "OFF" and then wait at least 10 minutes. After 10 minutes elapse, remove instrument panel lower cover, and disconnect (AB3) and (AB8).

1. FRONT SENSOR AND HARNESS INSPECTION

1) Disconnect connectors (AB4) and (AB5) from airbag control unit.
2) Connect connectors (AB4) and (AB5) to connector (8B) of test harness B.

3) Measure resistance between connector (5B) terminals indicated below.

(5B) Terminals / Specified resistance:
(RH: AB4): No.17 - No.18/1.4 - 1.6 K Ohms
(LH: AB5): No.15 - No.16 /1.4 - 1.6 K Ohms

4) Measure resistance between each connector (5B) terminal and GND.

(5B) Terminals/ Specified resistance:
(RH: AB4): No.17 - Body / 200 Ohms minimum.
No.18 - Body/ 200 Ohms minimum.
(LH: AB5): No.15 - Body / 200 Ohms minimum.
No.16 - Body / 200 Ohms minimum.

2. AIRBAG MODULE INSPECTION n

1) Remove airbag module.
2) Visually check harness for pinching or damage.

CAUTION: Never measure harness resistance value.

3. AIRBAG MAIN HARNESS INSPECTION

1) Disconnect connector (AB6) from airbag control unit, and connect (AB6) to test harness-B connector (8B).
2) Measure resistance between each (5B) terminal and GND.

(5B) Terminals / Specified resistance:
No.1 - Body/ 200 Ohms minimum.
No.14 - Body I 200 Ohms minimum.

4. ROLL CONNECTOR INSPECTION

1) Remove airbag module.
2) Disconnect connectors (AB3) and (AB8) at harness spool.

3) Connect test harness-C connector (1C) and roll connector (AB7).
4) Measure resistance between each connector (3C) terminal and GND.

(3C) Terminals / Specified resistance:
No.1 - Body I 200 Ohms minimum.
No.3 - Body I 200 Ohms minimum.
No.4 - Body I 200 Ohms minimum.
