Refer to Figs. 18 and 19, during removal and installation of the instrument panel.
1. Disarm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. Remove console box, then the front pillar upper trim panel.
3. Remove radio ground wire, then the remote controlled rearview mirror switch.
4. Remove screw rivet located on lower side of lower cover.
5. Remove lower cover by removing six clips and three connectors.
6. Remove instrument panel lower cover, then disconnect airbag connector at harness spool.

7. Remove two screws from both left and right sides, Fig. 20, then lower steering column.
8. Remove caps from both ends of instrument panel, then remove bolts.
9. Remove two instrument panel switch assemblies by pressing forward, then disconnect switch connectors.
10. Remove visor, then disconnect clock connector.

11. Remove instrument cluster, then the meter visor, Fig. 21 and glove box.
12. Disconnect instrument and body harnesses, then the antenna lead.
13. Cover transmission select lever, then remove instrument panel by pulling forward.
14. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Push instrument panel into position by aligning five pins at end of instrument panel with grommets on body side.
b. Set clips located at both inside end of instrument panel onto body side.
