Evaporative Emissions System: Description and Operation

Evaporative Emission Control System:

PURPOSE
An evaporative emission control system is used to prevent emission of fuel vapor.

CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION
The Evaporative Emission Control System includes a canister, rollover valve, fuel cut valve, purge control solenoid valve and various connecting lines. Fuel vapors from the tank are routed to the canister through the evaporation line and are absorbed in activated carbon. The two-way and rollover valves are incorporated in the vapor line between tank and canister. Fuel vapors are purged from the canister when the ECU signals the purge control solenoid valve to open.
