Fuel Tank: Service and Repair
Fuel Pump Access:
REMOVAL
1. To release fuel pressure, disconnect fuel pump electrical connector under rear seat.
2. Start and run engine.
3. Crank engine for an additional 5 seconds after engine stalls.
4. Drain fuel from tank into a suitable container.
Fuel Tank Removal:
5. Disconnect fuel tank electrical connectors.
6. Raise vehicle on hoist.
7. Remove rear exhaust pipe and muffler.
Axle Removal:
8. Separate rear axles from differential.
9. Remove differential and drive shaft.
Differential Removal:
10. Using a transmission jack or suitable lift, support and remove rear sub-frame.
Filler Pipe Removal:
11. Separate filer pipe from flexible duct.
Rollover Valve:
12. Disconnect fuel delivery, return and evaporative hose.
Tank Removal:
13. While supporting fuel tank, remove band retaining bolts and remove tank.
INSTALLATION
1. Reverse procedure to install.
2. Torque all fuel line clamps to 0.7 - 1.1 ft.lb (1.0 - 1.5 Nm).
3. Torque Tank mounting bands to 17 - 31 ft.lb (23 - 42 Nm).
