ROM Reminder/Legacy A/T Vehicles

We are still hearing about situations where a ROM installation was attempted into an ECU that already incorporated the latest updated logic. This type of action may result in damaging the ECU and ROM necessitating an expensive unnecessary replacement. To review, this ROM was introduced to address a rough idle/stall condition which could possibly occur on some 1990 A/T equipped Legacy vehicles after a cold soak start. Vehicles utilizing ECU P/Ns 22611AA380, 22611AA381 and 22611AA382 will accept the ROM, P/N 22677AA000. P/N 22611AA383 and 22611AA383F ECUs already have the latest logic. Do not install a ROM into these ECUs. Along the same line, do not install a new "383" ECU if installing a ROM will correct the customer's complaint. Call the Helpline if you're not sure and need additional clarification.

By the way, in case you're wondering, the "F" after "383" on some ECUs just designates a different manufacturer. JECS makes ECU P/N "383". AUTECS makes the ECU P/N "383F".
