Recall Campaign Announcement Wzg-55

Please be advised that SOA will conduct a cold weather region recall campaign on the transmission vent system on 1990, 1991, 1992, and some 1993 Legacy, XT6 and Loyale vehicles equipped with 5-speed manual AWD and 5-speed manual on-demand 4WD transmissions. Repairs under this campaign will be limited to the following states:

Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin.

Under extreme cold (-22~F) and high humidity (75% relative humidity on average) weather conditions, the transmission breathing function may be lost due to the moisture or frost buildup in the vent. If this occurs, pressure inside the transmission case will be increased and may cause the rear oil seal to be disengaged causing transmission oil leakage.

The Product Campaign Bulletin will be sent to all dealers during the week of May 9. Vehicle owners will be notified approximately two weeks later.
