Automatic Transmission/Transaxle: Description and Operation

^ Transmission is a four speed double row planetary gear type using a symmetric, 3 element single stage, 2 phase torque converter.

^ The electronic control system uses a microcomputer for accurate control of vehicle speed, engine brake and lock-up operations and gear shift timing.

^ The system is has an automatic drive pattern selecting function which selects between "normal" and "power" drive patterns.

^ 4WD models use an electronically controlled full-time version on the FWD transmission.
