Evaporative Emissions System: Description and Operation
Evaporative Emission Controls:
The Evaporative Emission Control System includes a canister, two-way valve, fuel separator (4WD model only), purge control solenoid valve, auxiliary purge control solenoid and various connecting lines. Fuel vapors from the tank are routed to the canister through the evaporation line and are absorbed in activated carbon. The two-way valve and fuel separator are incorporated in the vapor line between tank and canister. Fuel vapors are purged from the canister when the ECU signals the purge control solenoid valve to open. The auxiliary purge control valve, allows purging of the canister during boost conditions.
