Neutral Position Switch (M/T)

DIAGNOSTIC CHART

Diagnostic Chart:

Diagnosis
Neutral position switch does not function.
Harness connector between ECM and neutral position switch is shorted or open.

Trouble Symptom
Poor idle quality.

CHECK INPUT SIGNAL FOR ECM

Input Signal:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminal and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E29) 16 - body 10 - 14 V (neutral position)
0 V (other positions)

CHECK NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

Neutral Switch:

1. Turn ignition OFF.
2. Unplug connector from transmission harness.
3. Measure resistance between connector terminals of transmission harness.

Connector & Terminal Resistance
(T2) 1 - 2 1 M ohms min. (neutral position)
10 ohms max. (other positions)

CHECK POWER SUPPLY TO NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

Power Supply:

1. Turn ignition ON.
2. Measure voltage between neutral position switch and body.

Connector & Terminal Voltage
(B14) 1 - body 10 V min.
