Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
MEASURE TCM SIGNAL VOLTAGE INPUTMeasure TCM Signal Voltage Input:
1. Turn ignition ON (engine OFF) and measure signal voltage of TCM.
2. Start and warm up engine. Measure signal voltage input of TCM.
Connector & Terminal Voltage
(B53) 19 - 4 2.9 - 4.0V (ATF temp. 68°F (20°C)
1.0 - 1.4V (ATF temp. 176°F (80°C)
Select Monitor Function Mode F08 or F07
Condition: Warm up engine to increase ATF temp.
Specified data: ATFT F08 or F07
(Temp. shown on display increases)
CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTORS BETWEEN TCM AND ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Check Harness And Connectors Between TCM And ATF Temp. Sensor:
1. Unplug connector from TCM.
2. Unplug connector from transmission.
3. Measure resistance between TCM connector and transmission connector, and between TCM connector and body.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B53) 19 - (B9) 5 0 ohms
(B53) - body 1 M ohm, min.
(B53) 4 - (B9) 12 0 ohms
CHECK ATF TEMPERATURE SENSOR
Check ATF Temperature Sensor:
1. Unplug connector from transmission.
2. Measure resistance between TCM connector receptacle terminals.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(T4) 5 - 12 2.1 - 2.9 K ohms (ATF temp. 68°F (20°C)
3. Connect connector to transmission and warm up engine to increase ATF temperature.
4. Stop engine and unplug connector from transmission.
5. Measure resistance between transmission connector receptacle terminals.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(T4) 5 - 12 275 - 375 ohms (ATF temp. 176°F (80°C)
