Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
RELEASE FUEL PRESSUREFuel Pump Connector:
1. Fold down rear seat and turn up carpet.
2. Remove access hole cover.
3. Disconnect fuel pump connector.
4. Start engine and run it until it stalls.
5. After engine stalls, crank engine for five (5) or more seconds.
REMOVAL
Fuel Filter:
1. Loosen screws on filter clamps.
2. Twist and pull the hoses to remove filter.
INSPECTION
1. Inspect filter for dirt or water sediment.
2. If filter is clogged or cracked, or if replacement interval has been reached, replace filter.
3. If water is found in filter, shake filter with inlet facing down to expel water (inspection of the fuel tank is advised).
INSTALLATION
Fuel Hose Clamp Installation:
1. Inspect hoses for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary.
2. Inspect clamps for deformation or damage. Replace if necessary.
3. Connect hoses as illustrated.
4. Tighten hose clamps.
HOSE CLAMP TORQUE VALUE
1.0-1.5 Nm (0.7-1.1 ft.lbs.)
5. Place filter in bracket, making sure hoses are not twisted or kinked.
6. Connect fuel pump connector and reinstall access cover and carpet.
7. Start engine and assure there are no leaks.
