The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) consists of a control unit, two front sensors, two safety sensor built into the control unit and a driver's air bag module, Fig. 1.

The front sensors and the safety sensors are connected in parallel respectively. The front sensors and safety sensor are connected in series, so that the air bag will inflate if at least one front sensor and at least one safety sensor detect an impact at the same time.
