Pressure Tests

Refer to Specifications, for test pressures.
Specifications

Do not leave valve of pressure gauge closed or hold steering wheel at stop end for 5 seconds or more, as oil pump may be damaged.

Fig. 21 Pressure Gauge Connection:




1. Connect test equipment as shown in Fig. 7.
2. Measure regular pressure at idling with valve open. If regular pressure is not as specified check the following:
a. Flattened pipes or hoses.
b. Leakage of fluid lines.
c. Restricted fluid line.
3. Measure relief pressure at idling with valve closed. If relief pressure is not as specified check the following:
a. Fluid leakage inside oil pump assembly.
b. Excessive wear of vane pump mechanism.
c. Incorrectly operating relief valve.
4. Measure working pressure of control valve at idling with valve opened, turning steering wheel from stop to stop. If pressure is unsatisfactory, check operation of control valve.
