Rear Axle
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then raise and support vehicle.2. Remove rear wheel caps, then rear wheels. Loosen and retighten axle nut after removing wheels from vehicle.
3. Unlock and remove axle nut, then return parking brake and loosen adjuster.
4. On models equipped with disc brakes, remove disc brake caliper and suspend caliper from strut, then remove disc rotor from hub. If rotor seizes on hub, drive off rotor by installing 8 mm bolt into hole in rotor.
5. On models equipped with drum brakes, remove brake drum from hub.
6. If it is difficult to remove brake drum, then remove adjusting hole cover from back plate and turn adjusting screw until brake shoe separates from drum.
7. If drum is difficult to remove, drive it out by installing 8 mm bolt into hole in brake drum.
8. Disconnect parking brake cable end.
9. Remove stabilizer clamp.
10. Remove lateral link assembly to rear housing attaching bolts. Discard self-locking nut.
11. Remove trailing link assembly to rear housing attaching bolts. Discard self-locking nut.
12. Remove rear driveshafts as follows:
a. Remove and discard spring pin which secures rear differential spindle to double offset joint (DOJ).
b. Remove DOJ from rear differential spindle.
c. Disengage bell joint from housing splines, then remove rear driveshaft assembly.
13. Remove lower strut to rear housing mounting bolts, then separate strut from housing.
14. On models with anti-lock brakes, remove rear ABS sensor from back plate.
15. Remove rear housing (hub) from vehicle.
16. Reverse procedure to install.
