Rear Cross-Member: Service and Repair

Fig. 7 Exploded View Of Rear Suspension Assembly:

Refer to Fig. 7 when performing the following procedures.

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove rear wheels.
3. Disconnect lateral links from housing.
4. Remove exhaust pipe and muffler.
5. Remove four crossmember to body mounting bolts, then crossmember.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Self-locking nut must be replaced.
b. When tightening adjusting bolt, always tighten the nut and not the bolt.
c. Tighten rubber bushings with vehicle on ground and at curb weight.
d. Refer to Fig. 7 for tightening specifications.
