Self-Diagnosis Using Select Monitor

DIAGNOSIS USING SELECT MONITOR
1. Proceed as follows:
a. Connect select monitor to data link connector, located behind lefthand side lower instrument cover.
b. Turn ignition switch on, then turn cruise main switch to on position.

c. Turn select monitor on. All LED's will come on. Select monitor display will read as shown in Fig. 11, after several seconds.

d. Pressing "O" will convert display to read as shown in Fig. 12. If cruise main switch is off, error 2 will appear. Turn cruise main switch on and repeat procedure.
e. Press "F", "B","O" and "ENT" in that order, and enter the desired designated code.

DIAGNOSIS OF CRUISE CANCEL CONDITIONS
1. Connect select monitor.
2. Turn ignition and cruise main switch on, and set select monitor in "FBO" mode.
3. Start engine and drive vehicle at least 25 mph with cruise speed set.
4. If cruise speed is cancelled itself (without doing any cancel operations), a trouble code will appear on select monitor display.

5. Trouble code will be cleared by turning ignition or cruise main switch off. Refer to Fig. 16.

REAL-TIME DIAGNOSIS
1. Inspect system switches as follows:
a. Connect select monitor.
b. Turn ignition switch and cruise main switch on.
c. Set select monitor in "FAO" mode.

d. Ensure normal indication is displayed when switches are operated as shown in Fig. 18.
2. Inspect output systems as follows:
a. Connect select monitor.
b. Turn ignition switch and cruise main switch on (engine off).
c. Set transmission in Drive.

d. Set select monitor in FB1 mode. The display will read as shown in Fig. 20, until input OK is present.

e. Press "O". Example, pressing "O" in Neutral shows "31" Motor (which indicates a faulty motor) on display because power supply to vacuum pump motor is disconnected. When this is shown, set select lever to Drive and turn cruise main switch off. Then repeat test procedure. Refer to Fig. 21, for output system codes and Fig. 22, for select monitor display data.
