Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Crank Angle Sensor Schematic:
A faulty crank angle sensor will set code 11 in the on-board diagnostic system. Refer to the schematic diagram and test the sensor with the diagnostic chart.

CHECK CRANK ANGLE SENSOR
Crank Angle Sensor Testing:
1. Disconnect crank angle sensor connector.
2. While cranking engine, check that voltage between connector terminals varies synchronously with engine revolutions (0.1 V min.).
CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECU AND CRANK ANGLE SENSOR
1. Disconnect ECU and crank angle sensor connectors.
2. Measure resistance between ECU and crank angle sensor connectors as follows:
Connector & terminal: Resistance:
(B56)1-(B18)1 0 Ohm
(B56)2-(B18)2 0 Ohm
(B56)3-(B18)3 1 Ohm max.
3. Measure resistance between crank angle sensor and ground as follows:
Connector & terminal: Resistance:
(B18)1-Ground 1M Ohms min.
(B18)2-Ground 1M Ohms min.
4. Connect ECU connector and measure resistance between crank angle sensor connector terminal (B18)3 and ground. It should be 1 Ohm maximum.
5. Disconnect cam angle sensor and measure resistance between connector terminal (B17)3 and ground. It should be 1 Ohm maximum.
