Transfer Clutch Pressure
1. Check transfer clutch pressure in accordance with the following chart in the same manner as with line pressure.
ST 498897700 OIL PRESSURE ADAPTER SET or equivalent.
ST 498575400 OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ASSY or equivalent.
- Check Under no load: "R" and "D" ranges
- Check Under heavy load: "R" and "D" ranges in AWD mode and in FWD mode.
CAUTION: Before setting in FWD mode, install spare fuse on FWD
2. Connect the select monitor to the select monitor connector in the instrument panel in the driver's compartment and check the transfer "duty ratio" in function mode No.13.
3. With the parking brakes applied and the brake pedal depressed, depress the accelerator pedal. Adjust accelerator pedal depression until the transfer "duty ratio" is as indicated in the chart above. At this point, check the transfer clutch pressure.
4. If oil pressure does not build up or does not change in the AWD mode:
a) Duty solenoid is faulty.
b) Transfer valve is faulty.
5. Oil pressure builds up in the FWD mode:
a) Duty solenoid is faulty.
b) Transfer valve is faulty.
6. Specified oil pressure builds up but drive system does not change to AWD mode:
a) Transfer clutch is faulty.
b) Seal ring is worn.
7. Repair as necessary and retest.
