Legacy 4WD Noise Coming From Right or Left Rear Area

If you encounter a customer complaint of noise that sounds like a badly worn wheel bearing or damaged rear differential, check the differential suspension mounting member bushings. Apparently, small stones can become lodged between the rubber bushing and the frame bracket. When this occurs, the rubber is no longer insulating the differential mount from the body and the normal rear differential sound is amplified.
