FRONT STRUT NOISE

TOOLS REQUIRED:
PLIERS OR PARALLEL JAW PLIERS RULER

If you encounter and confirm a customer complaint of a squeaking noise in the front suspension, and a visual inspection of the spring and saddle area shows signs of contact, it will be necessary to bend the flange on the lower saddle of the front strut.

Note:
The area causing the noise will be identified by a shiny area on the spring and saddle.

1) Raise the vehicle on a lift.

2) Inspect the saddle and spring area of the front struts.

3) To eliminate the noise, it is necessary to bend the saddle away from the spring.

4) See Figure 1. Bend the saddle away from the spring in two areas

A: Bend area "A" outward 2 mm B: Bend area "B" outward 1 mm

5) Apply undercoating to affected areas of the strut and spring to prevent rust.

6) Lower the vehicle and confirm the repair.
