Throttle Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
MEASURE VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM TCMMeasure TCM Input Signal Voltage:
1. Ignition switch ON (engine not running).
2. Measure signal voltage input from throttle position sensor with accelerator pedal fully depressed.
Connector & Terminal Voltage
(B53) 20 - (B52) 14 0.3 - 0.7 Volts (throttle fully closed)
3.9 - 4.3 Volts (throttle fully open)
Select Monitor Function Mode F09
Condition: Ignition switch ON (engine OFF)
Specified data: THV F09
0.3 - 0.7 Volts (throttle fully closed)
3.9 - 4.3 Volts (throttle fully open)
(Must be changed corresponding with accelerator pedal operation [from "released" to "depressed" position.])
CHECK HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS BETWEEN TCM AND TPS AND BETWEEN TCM AND ECM
Check Harness And Connectors Between TPS, TCM And ECM:
1. Unplug TCM connector.
2. Unplug connector from ECM.
3. Unplug connector from throttle position sensor.
4. Measure resistance between TCM connector and throttle position sensor connector.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B53) 20 - (E10) 2 0 Ohms
(B53) 20 - body 1 M Ohms, minimum
(B53) 1 - (E10) 3 0 Ohms
(B53) 1 - body 1 M Ohms, minimum
Check Harness And Connectors Between TPS, TCM And ECM:
5. Measure resistance between TCM and ECM connectors.
Connector & Terminal Resistance
(B53) 1 - (E30) 15 0 Ohms
CHECK VOLTAGE OF POWER SUPPLY LINE
Check Power Supply Voltage:
1. Ignition switch ON (engine not running).
2. Measure voltage of throttle position sensor connector.
Connector & Terminal Voltage
(E10) 3 - 1 4.8 - 5.7 Volts
