Neutral Safety Switch: Adjustments

1. Disconnect cable end from select lever.
2. Disconnect [1][2]inhibitor switch connector.

3. Check continuity in [1][2]inhibitor switch circuits with select lever in each position, Fig. 3.
4. Ensure continuity does not exists in ignition circuit when select lever is in R, 3, 2 and 1 position.
5. Ensure continuity exists at equal points when select lever is turned 1.5° in both directions from the N position. If not continuity exists in one direction but not in the other direction or if there is continuity at unequal points, adjust [1][2]inhibitor switch as follows:
a. Loosen three [1][2]inhibitor switch mounting bolts.
b. Shift select lever to N range.

c. Insert stopper pin tool No. 499267300, or equivalent, as vertical as possible into holes in [1][2]inhibitor switch lever and switch body, Fig. 4.
d. Torque inhibitor screws to 2.2-2.9 ft. lbs.
e. Repeat checks steps 1 through 5. Replace [1][2]inhibitor switch if it is determined to be faulty.
