Passenger Side Air Bag Module

1. Disarm SRS as described under Technician Safety Information.
2. On models with manual transmission, remove shift lever knob.
3. Remove console cover and shift lever boot cover.
4. Remove console box.
5. Remove driver side instrument panel lower cover, then disconnect electrical connector.
6. Remove glove compartment.
7. Remove cover back panel from glove compartment opening.
8. Remove two steering column retaining screws, then lower the steering column.
9. Place temperature switch in maximum cold position.
10. Disconnect temperature control cable from link.
11. Remove bolt cover from each side of the instrument panel.
12. Remove righthand front sill cover, then disconnect air bag connector.
13. Disconnect instrument panel connectors, and tag them so they can be installed at proper locations.
14. Remove instrument panel attaching bolts.
15. Remove front defroster grille, then two instrument panel attaching bolts.
16. Disconnect speedometer cable, then carefully remove instrument panel.

17. Remove four passenger's air bag attaching bolts, then carefully remove air bag module, Fig. 32.
18. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure ignition is turned Off.
b. Do not allow harness and connectors to interfere with other componens.
c. Tighten air bag attaching bolts to torque listed in Fig. 32.
d. After completing installation, arm SRS as described under Technician Safety Information.
