Technician Safety Information
1. The electrical circuit necessary for SRS deployment is powered directly from the battery and backup power supply. To avoid unwanted deployment and possible personal injury, the SRS must be disarmed prior to performing service procedures. Refer to Technician Safety Information.2. Wait 20 seconds before beginning any service procedures.
3. When inspecting the SRS, use a digital circuit tester. Using an analog circuit tester may cause unwanted deployment.
4. Do not apply tester probe directly to any SRS connector terminal. Use a test harness when inspecting.
5. Do not inspect air bag module continuity with air bag removed from vehicle.
6. When storing a removed air bag module, place it parallel with floor with pad facing upward. Do not place module against a wall, or place anything on the pad.
7. After removal, air bag module should be kept away from heat and light sources.
8. Use care not drop SRS components.
9. Do not subject SRS components to temperatures over 194°F.
10. Do not apply oil, grease or water to air bag unit.
11. Air bag module must not be disassembled.
12. Do not paint air bag to correct cosmetic flaws. It must be replaced.
13. If any damage or open circuits are found in SRS wiring harness, do not attempt to repair. Replace the defective harness.
14. Ensure grounding terminal is free from contamination before connecting SRS to ground.
