TRANSFER CLUTCH BINDING AND/OR BUCKING ON TURNS
Should you encounter one of the symptom(s), please follow the troubleshooting chart:
^ Symptom # 1: Bucking or jerking from the vehicle at slow speeds when turning and decelerating. A typical driving pattern to meet these conditions would be pulling into a parking space.
^ Symptom # 2: Binding or loading up the drive line components at low speeds when turning and accelerating. A typical driving pattern to meet these conditions would be turning into the parking lot from the street.
Transfer clutch break-in procedures
1) Drive the vehicle on a paved area that is dry and large enough to drive in circles.
2) Place the transmission in "D" range making 5 sharp turns in a circle at low speed. It may be necessary to lightly apply the brake pedal to keep vehicle speed down. Let vehicle idle in neutral for 30 seconds to cool down the transmission and repeat the process turning in the opposite direction. Let transmission cool again for 30 seconds.
3) Place the transmission in "1st" range and repeat the entire 2nd step.
The Transfer Case Kit consists of parts as shown.
