TITLE: Windshield Wiper De-Icer System Not Working

If you encounter a de-icing system not working on a Legacy or Outback model, and there is no power at the wiper deicer relay and the wiper deicer timer, you might want to examine the splice shown in the accompanying wiring diagram.

This splice is located under the driver's seat, under the carpet, nicely tucked below the heater vent duct outlet on a 1998 model. Other model years may have it located in this area or someplace else.

Subaru also noted that the wire color at Connector R87, pin 4, on some vehicles was RY and not Or as indicated in the diagram. This change sometimes happens due to vendor availability during production. However the indicated pin location is correct.
