Fuel Filler Cap: Testing and Inspection
Fuel Filler Cap:
1. Remove cap, and check gasket for even filler neck imprint, and deterioration or any damage. If the gasket is in poor condition, replace the cap.
2. Wipe valve housing clean.
Fuel Tank Vacuum Relief Valve:
3. Draw air through the tank side of the cap. The valve should click, allowing air to pass through it.
4. Replace fuel cap if it fails above tests.
NOTE: If cap requires replacement, only a cap with the same features should be used. Failure to use correct cap can result in critical malfunction of system.
