Warranty - Repair Time Verification Policy

NUMBER: 01-152-00

DATE: 10/01/00

APPLICABILITY:
All Subaru Vehicles

SUBJECT:
Technician Repair Time Verification.

NOTE:
This bulletin is to be inserted into Section 13.1 of the CDS Policy & Procedure Manual for future reference.

This Warranty Bulletin is a reminder to all service personnel that they must follow all existing warranty policies regarding technician repair time verification procedures.

All warranty repairs must be documented by using the proper procedures for recording the technician's actual labor time. The correct use of these procedures is required for all repairs regardless of the type of method used to compensate the technician, whether the technician is paid flat rate or salary.

The following procedures must be used:

^ The Subaru technician MUST clock "ON" and "OFF" separately for all repairs, whether they are customer pay, internal, another manufacturer's warranty repair or a Subaru warranty repair.

^ These time clock "punches" must be recorded on the 3-part Daily Job Ticket, with the "Gum portion" or time flag affixed to the back of the service hard copy of the repair order. The technician must not record the time clock punches directly on the repair order. Any warranty claim with time clock punches recorded directly on the repair order is considered to be unsupported.

^ Dealers who use full electronic repair orders, in which the clocking is done by computer generated time clock punches, instead of manual time clock punches, must be able to generate the equivalent of the Daily Job Ticket. Like the manual Daily Job Ticket, the computer Daily Job Ticket must also be generated by technician number and the "ON" and "OFF" punches recorded in sequential order. The system must be able to print paper copies.

^ There must be sufficient elapsed punch time to support the warranty, customer pay, and internal repairs being performed.

^ Copies of the Daily Job Ticket must be retained for at least two (2) years.

Warranty claims that do not conform to all of these policies will be subject to a debit.
