DTC P0500 - VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR MALFUNCTIONDTC DETECTING CONDITION:
- Immediately at fault recognition
CAUTION: After repair or replacement of faulty parts, conduct CLEAR MEMORY MODE and INSPECTION MODE. Refer to How To Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

11AS1: CHECK DTC P0720 ON DISPLAY.
CHECK: Does the Subaru Select Monitor or OBD-II general scan tool indicate DTC P0720?
YES: Check vehicle speed sensor 2 signal circuit.
NO: Go to step 11AS2.
11AS2: CHECK SPEEDOMETER OPERATION IN COMBINATION METER.
CHECK: Does speedometer operate normally?
YES: Go to step 11AS3.
NO: Check speedometer and vehicle speed sensor.
11AS3: CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN ECM AND COMBINATION METER CONNECTOR.
1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
2. Disconnect connector from combination meter.
Connector & Terminal - [(B135) No.24 - (i10) No.13]:
3. Measure resistance between ECM and combination meter.
CHECK: Is the resistance less than 10 Ohms?
YES: Repair poor contact in ECM connector.
NO: Repair harness and connector.
NOTE: In this case, repair the following:
- Open circuit in harness between ECM and combination meter connector
- Poor contact in ECM connector
- Poor contact in combination meter connector
- Poor contact in coupling connector (B36)
