Forester crossbar noise

Should you receive a complaint of wind noise coming from the roof area of a Forester vehicle and you suspect the crossbars may be the source, perform the following:








Confirm that the crossbars are in the proper position. . Test drive the vehicle to confirm the noise. . Once the noise has been confirmed, remove the front crossbar and verify that the noise is now gone.. After you confirm the wind noise is no longer present replace the front crossbar only, with new part number, F36TSSA005. This new part number has a wind deflector added to the underside of the right end cap as shown in the picture.

Note that the cross bars are directional; ensure the heavier, thicker, more rounded side faces the front. It should also be marked with an arrow. During installation, ensure you measure the six inch set back from the line/seam on the side rail end cap.
