03 IMPREZA STI CHARACTERISTICS

When making tight low-speed turns, such as parking lot maneuvers, customers will experience a knocking type sound from either the center differential, the rear differential or both depending upon the DCCD setting. If the DCCD is in the Lock Mode the sound may come primarily from the center differential, but may also be noticeable coming from the rear differential. If the DCCD is set at the minimum setting, the sound will primarily come from the rear differential. These sounds are characteristics of the mechanical limited slip rear differential. No damage is being caused by these sounds. No repairs are required for these conditions.
